Well, the reason I did not blog for quite some time so that I would not loose
this post one the main page..Yes, I am mad! Hahaha. Thanks to my freaking college life.
Also, it was because there was nothing to post about. Except on September 25th, I was supposed to wish Inoue Kikuko-sama happy birthday. I posted it on Twitter though ^^
This time, there's no special topic to blog about. I was just thinking of blogging a "Favourite Ranking" stuff. But then again, I still think it's a bad idea. Let's see.. maybe i shall start with this
My Top 10 Favourite Female Singers (Solo)
Bad idea, yes I know.. But this includes anison singers too yah~
#10 福原美穂 (Fukuhara Miho)
promoting 'CHANGE'
Fell in love with her very recently, so that's why she's still at #10. Very talented singer-songwriter and while she's still new in the industry, Fukuhara-san will definitely go far.
Fukuhara-san grew up in a musical family and started off as an indies singer. In 2007, she was picked by Sony and got her first major break covering Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me".
Favourite Single/ Album: HANABI SKY (single), LET IT OUT (single)

#8 タイナカサチ (Tainaka Sachi)
promoting 'Unmeibito'
My..she can really sing. First heard her in Fate/stay Night and she blew me up. Just that recently her songs seems to be deteriorating. But no one can doubt that she writes one of the best love ballads.
Tainaka-san is known for her vocals, she can reach up to 3 1/2 octaves. She wanted to become a singer ever since she was 15 but her talents were discovered earlier. According to her, she had written and composed over 60 songs in total at the time of her debut.
Favourite Single/ Album: disillusion (single), Aitaiyo.../Kimi to no Asu (single), Itoshii Hito e (single)

#7 南里侑香 (Nanri Yuuka)

Still very fresh as a solo singer but she is a highly talented seiyuu-singer. I'm sure everyone knows her.. She's still new as only two singles has been released under her name.
Vocalist of the famous duo FictionJunction YUUKA (the other being composer Kajiura Yuki), Nanri-san became the first seiyuu with a #1 single on Oricon daily. Nanri-san was also part of another group, tiaraway together with Chiba Saeko
Favourite Single/ Album: Odyssey (single)

Here comes my favourite acoustic singer. I have to admit that I only started listening to her last year, but her songs gradually grew on me. Her songs are just so....YUI!
One of the finalist in an Sony Music Entertainment audition back in 2003, YUI started her career as an indies singer in Fukuoka. Her first break came in 2005 and constantly gaining good rankings on Oricon

#5 椎名林檎 (Shiina Ringo)
2006 live concert
One of the first 3 japanese singer I grew up with, thanks to my brother(the other 2 are on the way). Shiina-sama is Shiina-sama. No one can compare her with anything! My brother adores her, to the extend of hoping to be her drummer. Just that recently, her songs seemed more jazzier..no more screaming Shiina-san T_T..
Shiina-san is also part of the band Tokyo Jihen. Shiina-san debuted in 1998, but it was not until 1999 that she got recognized. Since she varies in style, she names her music style as 新宿系 (Shinjuku-kei), not Shibuya-kei..
Favourite Single/Album: Muzai Moratorium (album), Shouso Strip (album).. her first two were her best..

#4 より子 (Yorico)
early indies
Thanks to Black Cat, I got to know Yorico-san! She's a singer with weird but cool style. Plus, she's an avid blogger and gamer.
Yorico-san started out as an indies artist, releasing two albums with big radio hits. She was signed to Toshiba EMI in 2005. Yorico was diagnosed with throat cancer as a child and through her life has struggled to fight the disease.
Favourite Single/ Album: second Verse (album)

# 3 宇多田ヒカル (Utada Hikaru)
'Prisoner of love' PV
The other of the 3 singers. Hikki is actually the first though. Her R&B style, which she debuted with, seems to be fading too as her music are more pop nowadays. Yet, no one can deny her talent.. Don't really like her English albums much, especially the latest one. So NOT Hikki.
Hikki is fluent in both Japanese and English as she spent some of her childhood in New York. She was one of the first artist in Japan with a R&B style music, which gained her the popularity. Hikki's mother, Fuji Keiko, is a famous enka singer.
Favourite Single/ Album: Utada Hikaru SINGLE COLLECTION VOL.1 (album, most of my favourite early singles are here), HEART STATION (album) and specifically Can You Keep A Secret?

#2 坂本真綾 (Sakamoto Maaya)

from Last Fm
Maaya-ne~~!! How I love her! Her clear voice really soothes you and she every time she comes up with nostalgic lyrics. Though I preferred her collaboration with Kanno Youko-san, she's not bad independently either.
Debuted as both a seiyuu and singer at the age of 15, Maaya-ne have sinced been noted and enjoyed great successes. Apart from a seiyuu and singer, Maaya-ne is also a stage actress, best known fo her role as Éponine in the Japanese adaption of the musical "Les Misérables". Trust me, she really soothes your ears.
Favourite Single/ Album: Shounen Alice (album), Single Collection+ Hotchpotch (album), Kazeyomi (album), Saigo no Kajitsu / Mitsubachi to Kagakusha (single)

#1 BONNIE PINK
promoting 'Even So'
promoting 'Ring A Bell'
Sou da.. She goes #1! The other japanese artist I first listen too. BONNIE-san has this very unique way of rendering her songs. I made a post earlier about her, check out my opinions there. Aijou ga ippai!
Though she is in #1, her music is rather different now than her early days. But still..whatever she does is splendid! BONNIE-san is already famous out of Japan as well and is a love able singer to everyone.
Favourite Single/ Album: Heaven's Kitchen (album), Every Single Day -Complete BONNIE PINK (1995-2006) (best album), Kane wo Narashite (single, was released on my birthday last year ^^)

There! My top 10 favourite FEMALE singers. There are a lot more, a whole lot more. But since I decided on just 10, I had to narrow it down. I even contradicted with myself and Meme to decide who goes which position. But trust me, this list would change as soon as tomorrow. ^__^
